|This pattern consists of 2 tops, one scoop neck and one v neck, both with a ruched neck finish. As usual for Kwik Sew, the pattern is multisize (XS, S, M, L, XL).|
The pattern instructions are clear and easy to follow with many diagrams to illustrate the various steps, making this top a good one for beginners. I made the scoop neck version.
Having narrow shoulders, I started with a size S at the shoulders, then grading out to a M for the bust and waist, then L for the hips. I also shortened the length as I want to be able to wear the top with a skirt as well as pants.
I have made this pattern a couple of times before and really like the band neck finish, but to give a bit of variety to my wardrobe, I decided to eliminate the ruching on the front neck band this time. This was a simple process, I simply used the front facing piece for both the front and front facing, then assembled as per the instructions.
While I loved this fabric when I saw it, it was a nightmare to sew! The large stylized flower repeat proved difficult to position on the front without screaming out "here I am!!". Fortunately, I was able to eventually get the pattern to work ...... mental note - beware of large flower prints.
I would definitely recommend this pattern.
