|Pattern Description: "A romantic six-gore trumpet skirt, self lined, with an invisible zip in the side seam. Waist edge is 4 cm below the natural waistline. The finished skirt length is 56 cm (22")"|
Pattern Sizing: 6-18. In Lena's sizes, based on my measurements, I am a 16 at waist and hips. I cut a 16 and the skirt was true to size.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? There is a list of brief instructions, no illustrations. I think you need some sewing experience as the instructions are not detailed, but can be used as a guide. On her site, on the pdf download, there is a link to an illustrated tutorial for how to insert an invisible zipper combined with waistband facings.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the idea of a skirt fitted at waist and hips but flared toward the hem. And also, I liked that Lena said that this skirt is "the only chiffon skirt that will not betray you in the wind!". I wore it once so far, but there was no wind, so I yet have to put it to the test, LOL.
The gores open up beautifully when I walk/ move, and I wish they were the same way when I stay still, because the seams where the gores flare out like to hide within the skirt when I'm not moving.
Fabric Used: Polyester Georgette. If I understand well, the pattern says that, for my size, you would need 3.60 meters. That's strange, because I could squeeze it in 1.80 meters. It's true, though, that I had to piece the front and back of the underskirt at one side, but nobody is going to know . But now I realise that I didn't measure the width of my fabric, maybe it was wider than 1.50 m... Ooops, too late now.
Also, as a side note, I am submitting this project to The Fabric Stash Contest, and the fact that I used so little fabric doesn't really help, LOL!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Unbelievably, none!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I would sew it again, and I do recommend it to others.
Conclusion: This is an elegant and feminine skirt for summer. As I said, I worn it once already, and I loved how the two layers of skirt felt against my skin.
