|Pattern Description: From website:|
Yes, it's a great shape and a very flattering one for all figure types. The empire waist and V-neck are classic. It is simple to sew together and looks great in all knits from cotton to slinky. It includes a pieced variation which is wonderful for fabric scraps ...we've done it with T-shirts and it's a winner!
Adults Small (Bust 34") to L4 (Bust 50") I used a size small and it was very big around the empire waistline.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, in fact, better. The pattern picture is a very simple, practically scribbled on line drawing that doesn't do this pattern justice. I saw a completed picture of a dress sewn using this pattern in the Nancy's Notions catalog and loved it.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, but it's a very simple style to sew. You won't really need the instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It is cut rather large around the empire waistline. I took it in quite a bit at the sides and center back seams. But it looks great now.
Rayon Jersey from Emma One Sock. Perfectly soft!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Other than taking it in, I made a straighter hem rather than using the long curved hi-low hem for the top.
I like the modest neckline but will probably make a few adjustments to open it up just a little bit more next time I make it, though this is perfect for soccer games and kid chasing.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. I made a dress using this pattern a while back, it's only been worn once, since I rarely use dresses. At that time, I readjusted the pattern to take in about 2" at the empire waist and raise it by 1/2" and it fits well now. I'd definitely recommend this pattern.
A few quick, simple adjustments and you should have a TNT pattern with a modest neckline and comfy fit. This one is worthwhile. It's quick to put together and looks stylish. I'm on the lookout for more knits so I can make a few more tops like this one.
