|Pattern Description: A classic men's casual shirt with a modern slim cut. Features a convertible collar and mid century style collar loop detail. Long or short sleeves.|
Pattern Sizing: S-XXL. I sewed a large based on the finished chest sizes of two other casual short sleeve shirts my husband owns.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were terrific. This was my first Colette pattern and it won't be my last.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This was my 7th men's shirt but the first for my husband. I wanted to try this pattern as he is slim and this pattern and its reviews reference the slimmer cut. Everything matched up beautifully, the yoke was especially interesting. I have not done the burrito method the way the pattern instructs but it came out as clean as can be. The sleeves went in without needing to rip any stitches out to remove puckers, definitely a first for me! I did not do the flat felled seams as this was really for fitting purposes, the next shirt I will try them. There was really only one dislike and that was the collar. The previous shirts I have sewn all had a collar and a collar stand. I really like a stand better, the collar seems to lay nicer with a stand.
Fabric Used: cotton shirting from Fabric Mart
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None, although I may try to use a stand and a collar from another pattern
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? yes, definitely
Conclusion: a great shirt, superb instructions, well worth the time it takes to make my husband a shirt.
