|Pattern Description: |
Child size bubble dress, tunic, and leggings
XXS-L, I made sz S for my just about to be 4 year old
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It sure did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were simple, clear, and very basic.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love how casual the tunic top version of this is-especially for little girls who like to play at the park without tripping on a longer dress. Paired with leggings or bicycle type shorts, it can be worn through all activities without hindering movement. I don't love the shape of the pocket. It strikes me as oddly long.
Hot pink cotton jersey with white polka dots
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I had made this pattern before in a non-stretch material despite it saying not to. It worked out great. The only thing is I noticed the elastic around the bottom seemed a bit too tight around my daughter's thigh area. This time I used the elastic guide chart between the s and m size. It is much, much better and still bubbles out quite a bit. I would add a 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch to the bottom elastic for a little more ease and comfort.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. I have now sewn it two times. Once in an orange linen with yarn pieces woven through it and now with the fabric it was designed for. I will make it again...next time I will lengthen the sleeves or maybe just shirr at the waist and add lower patch pockets near the hips. If you aren't afraid to work with it, it's a great base pattern.
I like it. It is a very easy cut and sew type pattern. A quick and satisfying hour project during nap time or preschool. The pocket is too long and not well proportioned, but that is easily fixable. Don't be afraid to try it in any fabric you like, it pretty much works since all the hems are elastic.
