|Pattern Description: A sophisticated yet easy-to-make dress for toddlers and girls with a small peter pan collar, button back bodice and full gathered skirt. This is a PDF pattern and can be purchased from winkhandmade on Etsy.|
Pattern Sizing: This is a multisized pattern and includes sizes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 & 8. Each size is printed in a different colour.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except for a slight alteration.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were great. They even explained how to put the PDF pattern together. They also included a size chart based on body measurements, a cutting layout, and recommended fabrics. The instructions were set out step by step and were very easy to follow. They included lots of illustrations as well.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I absolutely love how cute the design is. Simple, yet sophisticated. This pattern could be interpreted in so many different ways. Completely different looks could be achieved by using different fabrics. A cotton for a play dress, or a more luxurious fabric for a special occasion dress. I could even see this made up in a winter weight fabric to be worn over a long sleeve top and tights or leggings. The pocket design could be changed, the collar omitted or any other myriad of ideas. No dislikes.
Fabric Used: I used a printed polycotton and a matching plain polycotton for the contrast. These were both purchased at my local Bargain Box Fabrics.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The only change I made was to add the contrasting band around the bottom of the skirt. This was done out of necessity due to a slight error in the recommended fabric yardage. (This has since been addressed, and the pattern corrected). I was able to change the layout of the contrast pattern pieces and salvage enough fabric to lengthen the skirt. This was a rather fortunate error, because I like the added band around the bottom. It helps tie the out fit together with the contrasting collar and pocket flaps.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I already have plans to make more of these dresses. I have even ordered some beautiful contrasting fabrics (Lisette USA Cotton Collection) from Spotlight in their current sale. I would recommend this pattern highly to any one who has some little girls to sew for.
Conclusion: A really lovely pattern that can be adapted in so many ways to create many different dresses. More info and pictures on my blog Sew, Jean Margaret
