|Pattern Description: |
The Maritime Short is the perfect summer short, easy to wear, modern fit and plenty of room for customization. Features curved front pockets and stylized back patch pockets as well as a fly front closure.
0 - 18. I made the 6 size.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
All the reviews pointed to using a different method to insert the fly front. Jen's tutorial on the Grainline blog has the actual images of the pieces and this made more sense to me. I liked this fly front zip alot.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I've seen lots of shorts patterns but this pattern looks modern.
This is a simple style.
Nothing I dislike.
Black cotton drill and white contrasting thread.
The fun version is in polka dots.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Since making this pair, I've made a sway back adjustment on the centre back seam.
This pair has a centre back yolk to add cover me.. So I used top stitching and made these look like true jeans shorts.
The crotch curve has been deepened.
The hem is only 1" longer than the pattern.
I added belt loops, jeans button and rivets on the black shorts.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. Especially if you know your adjustments for trousers.
This is a very adaptable shorts pattern no matter what your shape is. Once you know what you're adjustments are, these shorts become your 'go-to' shorts for summer.
