|Pattern Description: |
This is a digital sewing pattern for a close-fitting, sleeveless workout top with front scoop neck, and choice of three upper back designs. An optional built-in bra is included, and neck and armhole edges can either be finished with hidden elastic or bound using a coverstitch binder.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Excellent instructions. Very detailed and the elastic lengths for the neck/arm openings are spot-on.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the versatility the 3 options for the back provide to make a unique top.
I did not like the inbuilt compression bra.
Supplex bought from Runners Fabrics. The space dyed fabric is particularly nice to wear.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Increased the length by 3 inches.
I left out the built in bra. I did try making it. I made the bra to size and found it was so tight when I tried it on I had to use scissors to get out of it. It didn't help it was summer here and a slight haze of perspiration from wrestling with getting into the top, meant it wasn't coming off for anyone!
I made a second version with a large fba, increased the elastic length and sewed it into the original muslin I made. The armholes skewed and pulled horribly and the compression was still too much for me. I wear crop top style bras to gym and have not found them to compress as much as this bra does. Maybe I am just not used to the style? Also I believe as an old girl (with soft tissue) the compression is extreme and not at all flattering or comfortable.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I have sewn it twice already and do have plans for more.
I didn't know how to rate this pattern. I love the top but the bra did not work for me. However if you are smaller in cup size or particularly like the compression style I would go for it. The instructions are excellent and detailed. Great to have some new tops to wear to the gym. More pics in this blog post - Click Here.
