Congratulations on a successful project! I love salwar kameez sets, and always like to hear about patterns that are suitable. Another one you might take a look at is Simplicity 4377, a plus sized tunic and pant set from the Khaliah Ali collection. (It's in the sleepwear section, but would look fine for daywear in the right fabrics.) It looks like it might be a bit more fitted and less oversized than the unisex pattern. Too bad McCall's couldn't give you the yardage, but you can lay the pattern pieces out on a table and measure how much length and width they take up. This is more accurate than going by the pattern evelope yardage, which is not always correct. The sizing isn't always correct either, as you have already learned:). But measuring the pattern pieces before you cut can help you pick the right size. Happy salwar kameez sewing!

Congrats on your project! It's great that you have some people who can help you with it. I know exactly what you mean about wanting more information on the yardages. Now that you have the pattern done, you can figure out your own yardages - which will be more accurate anyway. (Just don't forget to allow for shrinkage of your fabric.)

Thank you! It's hard to find a pattern for salwar kameez that doesn't break the bank. Thanks for the sizing tip also. Have you tried Simplicity 4249?

Congratulations on your project and sewing tips. Have you tried folk wear pattern 119 and 135? 119 is good for Shalwaar and 135 for kameez, kurta and Churridaar. 4249 from Simplicity is good for loose Churridaar
