Wonderful jacket and a matching review! Thanks for the photo of the layout and the hints. I have not sewn Marfy yet ... after my HP are done, maybe!

What a lovely design with interesting details. The pink is far too pretty to go traipsing through bushes though.

MA, LOL, I am a city girl. I can't tell you the last time I went through what you would call the bushes!

Great jacket! Also neat to see your fabric marked with SA.

This review might have been just enough to nudge me to consider a Marfy pattern. Your layout picture is invaluable, and we coud also see the actual Marfy pattern pieces too, which I was curious about. Wonderful job on the jacket!

Wonderful jacket. I can see it dressed up and worn casually. Even though it's a wearable muslin, I'll bet this jacket becomes a wardrobe staple. Beautiful and inspiring job.

Way to go, ReBecca. This jacket is beautiful and unusual. I don't think I can resist ordering a Marfy pattern any longer.

Lovely jacket. You did a great job and your photos are very helpful. You have inspired me to consider trying one of these patterns. Love the details on the sleeves and pockets.

Love the details! - do you know if this one is still in print? Also - many thanks for the layout - since Marfy doesn't include one this is very helpful. Great review!

Thanks for the review. I especially appreciate the layout photo. I just ordered my first Marfy from Vogue-jeans no less! Great jacket!

Nice jacket; you did a great job. The pattern drawing is rather silly, isn't it! But I do want to try a Marfy pattern some day.

PhylisC, This pattern is from fall/winter 2004 I think so, from what I understand, it will be available until the end of this year. The fact that patterns are available for two years is another thing that I like about Marfy! The pattern layout is pretty easy to figure out, the patterns are marked with what goes on the fold and the grainline. Also, the latters that you see do actually line up with the coresponding letter. I have seen fewer instance of marking not matching up than with any other pattern company. When things don't match up it is usually because I am wrong in the way I am putting it together and I need to step back and think about what I am doing! Thank you for all the nice comments, I have been working on this quite a while and I knowthat I will get to enjoy wearing it!

Wow, what a terrific jacket and review. Beautifully sewn, very helpful Marfy explanation and picture. I too have avoided Marfy but I'm on the edge...

ReBecca: With your help, I feel I could handle a Marfy! Maybe because when I was about your age (eons ago), I was tall and thin and lived in Houston. I too made a pink Safari jacket (Vogue, perhaps) which I loved dearly. Thanks for your reviews!

Thanks for showing the layout. I am going to make a Marfy and I was wondering how problematic it would be and now I can see it won't be. You did a great job.
