Elona 3/13/06Cool, Agnes. Getting to know your own body this way gave you a fine result.

Lorna C. Newman 3/13/06Great review! I love the idea ... eBay is a great source for those dial dress forms .. always lots on auction for great prices!

cindyann 3/13/06Wow, great idea.

Ceri590 3/13/06That seems much easier than the duct tape method! Thanks!

Sew'n'go 3/13/06Most interesting. Thank you for all the details in your review. You've explained the process beautifully. Victoria

Hilary 3/13/06What a great idea!! Thanks so much for posting this, I'd never even thought of looking for a second hand dressform, I am going to try this! (well someday :o) )

Sew4Fun 3/13/06Wonderfully helpful review, thanks!

Kathi Rank 3/13/06Great idea .... with your instructions I bet even I can do it. Thanks.

marie williams 3/13/06Love this idea, I have to try it. I also own Pattern Master Boutique.

Jane S 3/14/06Agnes, thank you for such detailed instructions. I'm looking forward to doing this myself on a dressform sitting in my basement.

Georgene 3/14/06You could do this with any fitting shell that you have made with any method - store bought pattern from Vogue, or other pattern company - or self-drafted from instructions. Great idea! This is essentially how they create the client dressform in Haute Couture.

melgosews 3/14/06What a good idea! I had similar thoughts before I made my duct tape double, but a girl could use another and I have a form just like yours from my mother's stash. Thanks!

Albyn 3/14/06Brilliant! I hate my form, which lools a lot like yours. When I get back home to Canada after wintering in California I will head the sewing room for some much needed sewing therapyNow I plan on beginning with a copy of your idea. It looks so great!!

ncegbu 3/24/06I bought a 3/4 (has a bum & thighs) "Fabulous Fit" form with the foam pads for a really good sale price because they were discontinuing that particular model. It is so *not* my size (not even close) and never will be even if I waste away to just bones, but I had planned to pad it out using batting and that chair pad foam cut to shape for areas that need more substantial padding like the bust, stomach and hips/thighs. Reading your review has been very helpful in refining my plan for my form's transformation. Thanks for the review!

Learn To Sew 5/9/06Impressive. I learned more about padding my dressform from reading your review. It looks like you added extra padding over a bra? Interesting idea. I loved the idea of basting a zipper in on the wrong side and then prefecting the fit, taking it back out and sewing it up. Great review.

Debe 5/10/06Thank you so much for this review! It's a great idea and something that sounds simple enough that I might actually be able to accomplish! I have one of the big 4 pattern fitting shells, so I think I'll give this a try.

Beth Pierce 6/6/06Great review and exellent results. I'll save this in my file when I build mine.

WJean 7/25/06Agnes, I just asked recently in another electronic forum how to do what you have described in your review. Thanks a lot for sharing this information. I too thought it would be less costly to not purchase a form (again), or wrap yourself in plastic, paste and other goo, but to redevelop an existing one, which I plan to do in the AM while it's cool outside. I am excited about this upcoming project and more excited about better-fitting clothes after they are made.

So So 5/29/07What a great Idea! now to find a 2nd hand dressform!

boppingbeth 6/5/07Cool idea--never thought of using PMB to create a 'double' but it is great!

Kirstenw 8/17/08Through Kay Y I read this advice. I am also going to use my PMB sloper, take out the ease and make the little adjustments. A double me will really help.

Beth Pierce 1/19/09Great review and exellent results. I'll save this in my file when I build mine.

katie lynne 7/21/09I'm glad this review is still here. As Henry Gibson would say, "Very interesting..." (remember Laugh-In?) What an outstanding solution to put a zipper in the shell. You're brilliant! Thanks for taking the time to document this. :o)
