What a wonderful find this pattern is, and even better because it worked! Back in the day I learned to sew clothing with the Jiffy patterns, and had so much fun wearing those groovy styles:). You are correct about the fabric: knits in the 60's/70's usually had a lot less stretch than the modern ones, so you can get away with using a smaller size than you might think.
