So here's a weird question. I bought this skirt pattern Simplicity 7229 and was all excited to make me-self a little skirt. I am a size 12. In jeans and such. Skirts too, I'd imagine. So I bought the size 6/8/10/12 pattern. Well then I start measuring and looking at all that fine print (new at the sewing, I am) and see that my measurements are in accord with an 18 (!!). So I'm bumming (not only how did I get so fat and isn't sewing hard enough without being mocked by the pattern?) and do I have to go back to the shop and trade up for a bigger size? Then I think, hmmm I'll look for other craftsters who have made this skirt...google....I find you. Would you suggest, from your experience with this pattern, going with the evil measurements that make me an 18 and exchanging the pattern, or do I dare cut a little on the generous side of a 12 and have any hope of that working. I'm sorry for the crazy anonymous question. I know it may be an unanswerable question. But I'm home, the sewing shop is shut for the night and I don't look forward to the thought of dashing over there in the morning to haggle to get a bigger size with my three children in tow. I hope I've made you laugh. Even more, I hope you have a bit of skirty wisdom to share. Kathy
