cute quilt! your sister and niece are going to love it. wonderful that your mom contributed to it too. did you free motion the little things in the intersections? . . . it has been a couple of years since i did any qulting. if it weren't for quilts, i would have no UFOs. i have some quilt tops that need to be sandwiched and quilted.

Yes, I did. I traced those designs on tissue paper, then pinned them to the intersections, then sewed along the lines. I got better as I went along. Those pictured were the first 2.

Nice job and I am sure your sister will love it - hope it becomes a family heirloom. Did you put a label on the back identifying who it was made for/by whom/when? I belong to a quilt guild and we really emphasise doing this - we have seen quilts over 100 years old and thanks to the label or whatever on the back have been able to identify when and where. I you hve not done this please do - the baby when older will be thrilled to know all about the making of the quilt.
