The crotch depth is enormous isn't it! Although I find this on almost all kid's pants patterns, no matter which company. I routinely cut off 1"-2" from the top of most pants. I find Kwik Sew to be the worst, so measure first. I've had a lot of success with Burda for my kid's school pants. They have two types of pant patterns, one for slim kids (close or semi-fitted) and the other for wider kids (loose fitting).
