| PhyllisC | 3/5/03 | Boning - yes indeed - coiled flat steel boning is the way to go. It bends side-to-side in addition to front and back. My sister-in-law said it was very comfotable in the gown I made for her. Lacis in San Francisco sells it in numerous pre-measured lengths. A good casing material for lingerie would be seam binding. They also sell caps so you can cut it yourself (with a heavy duty bolt cutter)....it doesn't shift or migrate if it's inserted properly. |

| music1 | 12/27/05 | Thanks for the details. I'm going to start experimenting with making "sleevless leotards" with shaping built in. A stretch 'fits like a glove' dance dress will fit over the foundation 'leotard' and attach at the armholes, neckline and zipper, over the 'leotard'. I'm interested in learning how to build the bustier part of the leotard. Thats where I appreciate your details. |
