Christianne 6/16/08Very boutique-y!

MagpieJen 6/16/08Oh golly - that is stunning! I love working with silk chiffon too, and it dyes so well! Your smocking and the design overall is superb. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!
* * *
littlejazzbird 6/17/08Wow, your skirt is so hot!
* * *
CurlyCrafter 6/17/08Such a unique and gorgeous skirt!
* * *
fuzzygalore 6/17/08Oh this is reqlly bequtiful1 But Birgitte, for silk you should use acid dyes - totally different. The soda ash and alkaline bath needed for fiber-reactive dyes are for cellulose fibers, and not good for silk. Talk to Dharma, really, and acid dyes are easier to use anyway.

crisford 6/17/08Congratulations, it is absolutely amazing!

lynda828 6/17/08Wow I am in total awe your skirt is absolutely fantastic it looks like it came straight off the catwalk. Brilliant.

Annette1 6/17/08You have really outdone yourself on this one, Birgitte. I so admire your creativity and your talent, so expertly exemplified in this one-of-a-kind skirt. Look at those fabulous pleats, cascading down the front, the asymetrical drape, the hand-dyed colors, and that YOKE! It's just PERFECT in every way, and you wear it SO WELL. :o)

donna mel 6/17/08really great...so unique. i too dye silk and highly recommend dharma trading. i love the way you 'created' the skirt, not just followed the directions. art.

SewLil 6/17/08This is incredible. Very interesting.

sewkiwi 6/17/08Fantastic - It really is a work of art. Well worth all the effort.

squirrellypoo 6/17/08Wow, that's beautiful! I can't believe how much work you put into this, between the dying and the smocking and the pleating!!
* * *
LoriV 6/17/08This is such a stunning skirt. Your workmanship is outstanding and the entire outfit is gorgeous.
* * *
piffle 6/17/08Wow! Absolutely stunning work! Well done.

LindsayT 6/17/08Just gorgeous. It reminds me of an Italian silk skirt I've owned and loved for years because of its unusual details. Well done, Birgitte!
* * *
EveS 6/17/08Oh wow. I am speechless! This is just gorgeous...it must have truly fabulous movement to it when you walk. It was certainly worth all of the hard work - thanks for the inspiration!!

ITAdmin 6/17/08Beautiful skirt and, as usual, the story of your sewing is interesting and informative.

MagpieJen 6/17/08Just a note about silk dyeing - fibre reactive dyes can certainly be used, and on silk they don't necessarily require an alkaline bath. Dharma has information on that technique, as well as how to use acid dye on silk (which is arguably better for dark or reliable colours). For instance here: http://www.dharmatrading.com/info/dyeing_wool.html (It says wool, but also describes using silk). I have nice success tub dyeing silk using Fibre Reactive dyes, warm water and a vinegar bath.

DorothyK 6/17/08Unbelievable. Perfect. Congratulations on a job well done.

SarahSM 6/17/08Absolutely beautiful! (I really like your metallic clogs, too.)

PsychedOnSewing 6/17/08Wow, what a tour de force! Such a beautiful combination of earthy and elegant!
* * *
lilyofthevalley 6/17/08Positively glorious, Birgitte! Your dyeing, pleating, smocking, raw edges, and uneven edges is nothing short of Art, itself. And with your Bohemian Vintage Blouse, you are a Vision! Thank you for your continuing inspiration. --Lily

Karen6790 6/17/08This skirt is beyond one-of-a-kind. If it was mine I would hang it on the wall to look at when I wasn't wearing it. Absolutely amazing.

Catbird 6/17/08You can officially count me as one of your fans now. I am totally blown away by this. Even the photo is art. The world needs a 'Birgitte World of Fashion' magazine!! Your vision of what you wanted to create and then the execution of the vision is flawless. I love it so much.

willowsmum 6/17/08I love your skirt...how do you do that?...where do you get your patience from?...where do you get your inspiration?...these are all the things I would love to have but all I can do is get my patterns out and follow them.....absolutely wonderful work....well done.

meli88a 6/17/08Wow - you have such patience and skill! This skirt is absolutely beautiful, and perfect for your blouse.
* * *
Heatherrique 6/17/08What a headturner! I adore the look and style of your skirt, Birgitte! You can create anything with amazing results!
