Oh wow, this turned out so cute! I know from your posts, etc, that this one was a PIA, but your hard work really paid off. And even if you're not happy with the fit, I think it looks fine in the picture that you posted!

folkwear has an empire dress pattern which features both an updated and an "authentic' version. Thank you for the heads up, I make lots of costumes, and now I know to give this pattern a miss.

You are absolutely right, if they had sewing machines they would have used it. Shame this pattern was so difficult.
