What a stunning, one-of-a-kind dress! The construction process, & the different design features used from several patterns is brilliant! And the GORGEOUS bow-a knock out. Not only are you a fabulous sewer, & very creative, you'll be a smashing bride! Can't wait to see pictures! I'll keep your review & ideas, as bridal dressmaking is a new business I'm starting from home. Congrats all around!

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes...... I can hear the Sound of Music, except I am sure this dress is much more beautiful than the one Julie Andrews was singing about!

I can definately believe it is your work. It takes a lot of time and energy to think the process through in your head. With your skill and mastery, your dress will be the most beautiful dress ever worn by a bride!!!!

You're making great progress! Not only that, you got me started looking at retro reproduction patterns. I saw a couple on the Butterick site that look very similar to your inspiration designs, in case you end up doing more experimenting (although I don't know why you would, as it looks like you've found the perfect design to go with your beautiful petticoat)! It's still fun to look though. :o) YOU may not buy one, but I'LL probably end up getting one, for WHAT I don't know. :o)

You might try Mccall's 3440 available on under fifties patterns. It is very similar but with spaghetti straps. The number 3399 comes up with a different pattern on

That is a beautiful dress!!! I'll keep a lookout for the pattern number McCall's 3399?

Have you tried I have never used the site, in fact I just discovered it last week and bookmarked it, thinking it's so wonderful someone created such a resource!

I hope you find it soon. It's gorgeous!
shannie said... (1/3/09 2:20 PM) Reply
No, I still haven't found the pattern. I check eBay everyday and I'm always cruising the vintage pattern websites looking for it. Thanks for the encouragement!
moushka said... (1/3/09 6:20 AM) Reply
The dress is stunning! Have you located the pattern yet? Congratulations on finishing the petticoat. Hope this all comes together for you. Sue
