Great jacket. So clever of you to see past the wool version of the jacket and envision a warm weather version. I especially like the half belt. It defines the waist, but you don't have to fiddle with a tie belt often found on jackets like this. I am going to dig out this issue of BWOF and have another look at this pattern.

That's the way I identify whether I have prewashd a fabric or not. If the edges have been serged I know it's already been washed.
