It is really frustrating when you could have made a better pattern than the company that you actually paid. Your good tips would make this easier to make.

Your apron turned out cute. The bias pieces sound like the instructions may have been given as "quilter's" instructions. Personally, I prefer cutting my own strips verses a pattern because more often than not there is a problem with the pattern piece. I also use this as an opportunity to check that the strip is wide enough or too wide. Both can cause problems. I'm sorry to hear that you felt like you spent too much on the pattern.
