Love the monogram, too. Thanks for reminding me that these utilitarian garments can be really special and personalized. | | * * * | | Mini | 10/26/03 | This is such a good gift idea-everyone needs a nice robe. Serging the front band on is a big time-saver. I do this on all cardigans, kimonos or anything that has a banded edge. It makes a lighter, more comfortable finish. Adding the bands to the sleeve and pockets is a nice touch too. As an alternate method when using self-fabric, you can serge a mock band. Make a deep hem the same way a blind hem is done on a regular machine. Instead of serparate bands, this is an extension added to the hem. Figure out how deep the band will be, double it, and add a narrow serger seam allowance. | | * * * | | Gigi Louis | 10/26/03 | Diane, robes are one of my favorite gifts to make. :-) Mini, what a great idea to make mock bands - now why didn't I think of that? | | * * * | | Lisa Laree | 10/26/03 | What a great gift idea, coordinating his-n-her robes! I may have to try this for some of the folks on my Christmas list...
thanks, Gigi! | | * * * | | Rhonda Noah | 10/27/03 | Gigi, lovely robe. It looks like it came from Nordstrom's! My DH needs a robe so this pattern goes onto the wish list. ;-) | | * * * | | Rennie Ashby | 10/27/03 | Beautiful job! I agree, this is a great gift idea and timely as the holidays will be here too soon. | | * * * | | Katharine | 6/21/05 | Your DBIL & Sis must be in 7th heaven with these for their hot tub. I love the band pockets, and the serged neckband tip is invaluable. Thanks! | | * * * | |
