Pattern Description: Unlined, tote style bag in three sizes
Pattern Sizing: Sm(10.5"x11"); M(12.5"x13.5"); L(14.5"x16")
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? yes!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is my very first project, and it was quite easy to follow. It was all made from the same piece of fabric; pieces were easy to cut; sizes were very clearly marked. Directions were easy enough for someone who has NEVER sewn a thing to understand. There was only one tricky spot for me--figuring out how to fold the bottom of the bag so that it was rectangular (I have no spatial relations ability, so I can't say this is the fault of the pattern). My husband took one look at the picture (yes, the pattern provides pics every step of the way), examined what I had already done, and made ONE FOLD to make my project look like the directions. There were no curved seams to sew and yet, when I was done, besides the fact that I am still working out the whole sewing in a straight line thing, I was pretty pleased with the result (and myself!). I finished the whole project in 2 evenings. I like immediate satisfaction, and I got it with this bag. BTW, someone who does not sew on "turtle speed" and whose ironing board is in the same room as their sewing machine probably could have done it in one night.
Fabric Used:A heavy-ish cotton that was probably meant for making outdoor cushion covers (next time I'll know to write down the particulars).
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:None, but I wished I had looked for some instructions on how to line a bag-- it is very unstructured due to the weight of the fabric.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? yes
Conclusion: A great first project; would recommend for anyone new to sewing!
