| Pattern Description: Misses flared pull-on skirts have wide fold-down band that sits on hip. View C skirt has founce overlay on front. I made view B, which is the just below knee length skirt without the founce.
Pattern Sizing:XS-XL. I sewed an M this time.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Definitely!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Super, super easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love how it looks and how easy it was.... I was done in less than an hour after I cut it out, and was able to sew the skirt completely on my overlock / coverlock machine and skip using my regular sewing machine (the pattern also includes instructions for sewing it only with a regular machine if you don't have a serger). Depending on fabric choice, this can be a casual skirt or a dressy skirt. What I didn't like was the sizing with knits... for my first try with a cotton-lycra knit, I cut a L based on waist & hip measurements and it was way too big on me. So, I ripped it apart and cut it down to a M, which then fit, although with a very stretchy knit I might try a S next time since there is still lots of ease in the size M that I cut this time.
Fabric Used: Italian rayon/lycra jersey purchased at Tessuto in Mainz, Germany.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Ignored the Kwik Sew sizing and went smaller.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I've already sewn this one twice, and I already have ordered another rayon / lycra jersey to sew it again. This pattern is a winner, and even a beginner can have great success with it as there are only 3 pieces and no complicated details.
Conclusion: I'm becoming a real fan of the Kwik Serge patterns by Kwik Sew. Great wardrobe builders without any complicated instructions.

Pattern with more than 5 reviews! << Previous Review Next Review >> | Reader Comments | | EleanorSews | 6/13/09 | What a pretty skirt! Nice work. You can't beat fast, easy and great results. | | * * * | | Peggy | 6/13/09 | lovely skirt! Thanks for the review. | | * * * | | Peggy | 6/13/09 | I love this pattern but wonder if all the extra fabric at the waist is to much. What do you think? | | * * * | | GlobalMom | 6/14/09 | I think if you want to have less fabric at the waist, you can either leave it up and put your top over it , wear it as a high waist with a skinny belt, or cut down the height of the waistband piece before you sew it. It's a rectangle so I think that it would be quite easy to alter. | | * * * | | GlobalMom | 6/14/09 | | | * * * | | callmeRuth | 6/14/09 | Very cute. The skirt looks great on you. | | * * * | | sarahb | 6/14/09 | I've had this pattern for a while because I've made the pants with the foldover waistband and that worked great, but I never have made it. Thanks for the review, you've inspired me to get sewing on this pattern! | | * * * | |
