Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Absolutely. I made View B with the contrast fabric.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Super easy, just like the other Kwik Sew / Kwik Serge patterns I've used.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the racer back , and that with almost no effort I can make something that looks like it came from the street clothes section of an expensive yoga clothes store I know. This dress is super comfortable and quite cute - great for playing with my daughter at the park or out to a casual lunch or shopping. I'll team it up with a pair of matching blue Kwik Sew leggings I made at the same time. (already reviewed). I also like that I made this one entirely on my serger, so it went togehter really quickly.
Fabric Used: cotton / lycra jersey. I found the flower print at a moving sale of a fabric store in Chicago for $2 / yard, and bought 4 yards. This is my first project with this fabric, and I have lots left. The navy blue contrast fabric is from my stash.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Based on the measurements on the pattern envelope, I was S on top and M to L in the middle. So, for first try I started with S on top and tapered to M by the time the pattern pieces hit the waist. When the dress was finished, it was clear that there was way too much fabric in the waist / hip area, so I went back to my serger and made each side seam smaller where I had graded it. I think next time I'll just cut a S because there is so much ease in the waist / hips area since this really is an A-line dress. I suspect my fabric had more stretch than the 35% they suggested, and therefore I should cut a bit smaller than I would otherwise do based just on body measurements.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will definitely make this one again, particularly now that I'm sure what size I should sew. It's fashionable and easy to sew - no complicated instructions at all. I would definitely recommend this to others, and I suspect I'll get requests from my college-age daughters for their own versions, too.
Conclusion: A great addition to any summer wardrobe!
