| Pattern Description: Misses' pullover tops and pull on skirts for knits. view A top has v-neck, centre front seam and shirring at bust. View B, which I made has a draped collar. Both tops have a shaped seam at the centre back. The pull on skirt has a flounce in two lengths.
Pattern Sizing:Kwik Sew XS to XL. I made my usual Medium.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes and no. I have made both these tops and also the skirt before but never reviewed them as I felt I didn't have much to add - they are well tested favourites. I did something different this time. I'd bought some beautiful merino-wool knit and wanted to make a long sleeved top with a cowl like neck and thought of this pattern. I added sleeves from KS 2694 and there it is, a winter top with no fuss.
Were the instructions easy to follow? This was the second ever KS pattern that I had bought and remember being very impressed with the clarity of the instructions and accompanying drawings. I still am.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I come back to this pattern again and again, along with KS 2694. I would take both of them in a suitcase labelled 'you can only own five patterns for the rest of your life on a desert island'.
Fabric Used:Merino knit from The Fabric Store in Surrey Hills Sydney. I am a member of their 'Fabriholics Anonymous' club which amuses my daughter greatly. They sent me an invitation to a 30% off sale. Who was I to resist?
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:as mentioned before, I added sleeves, lengthened 3 1/2 ", from KS 2694, the classic crossover top. I also eliminated the centre back seam by putting this seam on the fold, bringing the back neck in slightly. I also raised the centre front by one inch and shortened the back of the cowl half an inch to fit the new neckline.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes I recommend this pattern to anybody.
Conclusion: I was revisiting an old favourite. I bought some bright green jungle print mesh to make the summer version again.

Pattern with more than 5 reviews! << Previous Review Next Review >> | Reader Comments | | Patti B | 6/16/09 | Very nice top and what a good idea! I had just pulled this out of the drawer with a thought of making one of the shells for summer and now I'll keep it in mind for winter too. I'm happy to see that, with minor modifications, the cowl neckline isn't as deep as it shows on the pattern. | | * * * | | Heatherrique | 6/16/09 | Sharp looking top, Val! Very clever to use sleeves from another KS for a different look. | | * * * | | squirrellypoo | 6/17/09 | Very cute! This is so classy, it'll last for years and years. I love that neckline. | | * * * | | Renren | 6/17/09 | Gosh, one of the five patterns you would take to a desert island if you could only have five? That's a ringing endorsement and no wonder . . . look how gorgeous this top is! | | * * * | | Schnauzer | 6/17/09 | Very nice top, Val. I agree with
everthing you have said about this pattern, it's one I use many times too! | | * * * | |
