Pattern Description: Girl's mult two piece swim suit pattern with additional circle skirt
Pattern Sizing: Girl's XS (4-5), S(6), M(7-8), L(10), and XL(12-14)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It looked like the photo on the envelope with adjustments that I had made.b>
Were the instructions easy to follow? yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the opportunity to select a regular two piece garment, bikini swim suit, tankini suit with or without a skirt. That is a lot of choices in one pattern for these times.
My only criticism of this pattern would be the skimpiness of the bikini top. It is my personal preference to see little girls more covered as opposed to less covered.
Another recommendation I have is to adjust the elastic on the panty such that there is alightly more snuggness in the back of the leg rather than having it equal in all four quadrants. It is, after all, under the child's cheeks where you want the bathing suit to stay put.
Fabric Used: stretch lycra spandex with a full lycra spandex lining (I chose to do this as I find many of the spandex fabrics available today are quite thin. My granddaughter is eleven (wears a size eight) but is self conscious wearing bathing suits that STICK to her when they are wet.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I added length to the bra of the bikini top as well as adding additional side width.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would not hesitate to make this garment again with the alterations that I have made. It fits a slim-normal framed girl well. I have always found the Kwik Sew patterns to be some of the best for form-fitting garments for this age group.
Conclusion: I continue to use Kwik Sew bathing suit and leotard patterns w/o any hesitation. Double check your back-neck length measurements and rise measurements to ensure a good fit, and be sure your fabric has sufficient stretch.
