Pattern Sizing:
There is no size given. But, I HIGHLY recommend measuring or making a muslin.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
In general, yes. They do not show the obi on a model.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't use them since they were written for a leather version. I should have used them because then I might have remembered to put a slit in the side piece of the belt.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I think obis are kind of cool. They give an ethnic feel to a garment without being over the top.
Fabric Used:
Tie fabric left over from Christmas gifts. I bought it in a bundle from Fabric Mart for a song.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
Oy. I didn't. But, here's the issue. The belt is really big on me. I'm a 38 in the waist. I found the ties were below my knees and the 'sides' of the belt started in the middle of my back.
I would make it about three to six inches shorter between the ties and the main fabric of the belt.
If you make it out of fabric, remember you'll need to cut two of everything. I also just used a 1/2 inch seam.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. I would for the right outfit. I think it's an easy way to dress up a loose fitting garment.
Conclusion:
Simple!
