Pattern Description: From the envelope: Skirts fit slightly below waist. View A & B are gathered to fitted yoke, have zipper in side seam, and optional belt loops and sash. Sash is from contrast fabric. View C and D are slightly A-lined and have casing on outside with ribbon drawstring. I made View C.
Pattern Sizing: Misses' sizes XS-S-M-L-XL. I made a size M, which doesn't fit anyone in my family (I made it as a sample for a shop). That is the reason it isn't photographed on a person.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very, very easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It is a great basic pattern that lends itself to a variety of embellishments. I appliqued an octagonal-shaped flower on the skirt, then added three more layers of fabric that I snipped around the edges. When the skirt is washed repeatedly the snipped fabrics will fray and add more dimension to the flower. I also topstitched with pink thread and dyed a piece of cotton cording to use for the drawstring. I also used flat-felled seams on the side seams and topstitched the center-front and center-back seams with one row of tostitching. These are all simple details, but they are things that make a 'homemade' garment special.
Fabric Used: Lightweight stretch denim, quilting-weight cotton for the applique, and cotton cording.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I did not use a ribbon in the drawstring as the pattern suggests. I used 3/16" cotton cording instead. The cording was much smaller before I washed it. Now it is actually too big to slide easily in the casing, but I haven't been able to find smaller cording to use. I will keep looking.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will sew it again and recommend it to others.
Conclusion: I have made both styles of skirts from this pattern and I'm sure I will make many more skirts from it in the future.
