| Pattern Description:
An underwire bra designed for lace, tricot and power net.
The View A cups are made from lace and tricot, and the View B cups are made from tricot. Pattern Sizing:
32 A B C D, 34 A B C D, 36 A B C D, 38 B C D DD. I did a 34 A, which corresponds the European size 75A. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Very much so Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes a few minor glitches but more my interpretation than the directions. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I LOVE good illustrations. These were easy to read. Both written and illustrated directions were very clear. Fabric Used:
Power net, tricot, plush elastic, lace, channeling. Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
These are my second and third bra attempt. The first bra had some design/human error flaws such as not cutting the channeling long enough, etc. It was not a wearable muslin but a great and necessary road trip. I highly recommend a muslin for fit and pattern understanding.
First bra has tricot sides and lace with no stretch. Pink Bra
Second bra has same tricot, I applied stretch lace to the cup and to the sides as per Nancywin's directions. A great way to distinguish several bras when you have enough fabric but don't want to make the same thing again. I am a standard RTW size and have no fit issues, but this bra was easy to fit and only required some tweaking in the top cup. Pink Bra with lace trim sides Lace Trim on sides
Both bras do not have straps yet....um.....I ordered a bra kit from Ann at Needle Nook Fabrics and she was fabulous at custom making a bra kit and collecting all items. I
inadvertently cut out too many bra cups and ran out of fabric for straps (not following the directions)! I could use elastic but I am ordering more fabric to make straps-one thin one and one wavy one. I highly recommend the kit route-trying to find a one stop store that sells all pieces is a treasure hunt at best! Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes Conclusion:
Never say never. I can't believe I made a bra. I haven't even made underwear yet! I like to balance my sewing projects with a fun project in there for good measure and I have loved observing the colors and design construction details of bra making with other sewists. It was easy once details are understood and once I really behaved and followed the directions it really IS fun! Comfortable as well!!!! I want some wild prints next. Thanks to Sigrid,Nancywin,JohannaLu,CindyAnn,Squirrelypoo,Liana,Summerset for their excellent reviews and tutorials!

Pattern with more than 5 reviews! << Previous Review Next Review >> | Reader Comments | | DaisyEsq | 7/6/09 | I just purchased this pattern based on PR recommendations. Your bras look great (but I couldn't see the larger photos via your link ;o( ) | | * * * | | Christas | 7/6/09 | I never ever thought I would want to make a bra. Seeing all these beautiful ones on PR has made me rethink that. Your pink bra is so nice and also beautiful. I may have to give this pattern a try. | | * * * | | kathi s | 7/6/09 | How is the fit and support? I am interested in how this pattern would work for us older ladies who need "um" a lot of help in supporting our girls. Your versions are really pretty! | | * * * | | Michele Lommasson | 7/6/09 | Very nice review. I was sorry too, that I couldn't see the pictures. Your descriptions made up for it. | | * * * | | Rhoda K | 7/6/09 | From what I can see of your photo your bra looks very nice but I would ask the same question as Kathi s. Very good review though. | | * * * | | claire e. | 7/6/09 | oooooo! beautiful!! | | * * * | | JoanneM | 7/6/09 | Kathi s and RhodaK I would recommend a bra pattern with a band underneath the cups or try this pattern and see what you think. Nancywin said in her review that the support comes from the band and if the powernet is strong I wold think you would be okay-but it is definitely a personal preference. Check with Sigrid she has tried several styles,this is only my first. Good Luck! | | * * * | | Batik | 7/6/09 | Nice job! | | * * * | | marjenann | 7/6/09 | Lovely!! Did you insert underwire?? | | * * * | | JoanneM | 7/6/09 | Marjenann-yes I did insert underwires in both. I won't wear them without one! | | * * * | | Rhoda K | 7/6/09 | Thanks for your response! I may give this a try. | | * * * | | li'l miss muffett | 7/7/09 | Gorgeous bras! I love making bras too and agree that they are really fun to make! | | * * * | | Jane S | 7/7/09 | I too am actually considering making bras, thanks to you and other great reviewers on PR..and trust me, that's high praise. These look so lovely. Bravo! | | * * * | | SigridNL | 7/7/09 | Lovely bra's, great result! | | * * * | | colourbynumber | 7/13/09 | You did it! They are beautiful! | | * * * | | fuzzygalore | 7/13/09 | Your flicker album isn't publicly accessible, so we can't see anything better than the thumbnail. Too bad, because it's promising ;-). | | * * * | |
