Pattern Description: Men close fitting shorts have elastic waist with drawstring, and bottom edges have elastic. They are similarto "Jammers" on the Speedo website.
Pattern Sizing: Men's S - XXL Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, very much so.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were great. The only issue I had was with the amount of fabric required. It calls for 5/8 yd of 60" wide but you may want to buy a little extra. You are suppose to lay it out with the greater stretch going around the body. To do so I had to lay it out differently than the instructions. I bought 1 1/2 yds figuring the first pair would be a wearable muslin if they didn't turn out I would have another go at it. Since these were quite a success I have more fabric for when these are worn out.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? They were exactly what my DH was looking for to wear under his wetsuit when he surfs. The pattern was easy to make and turned out very nicely. Back View Fabric Used: An awesome High Performance Spandex from Spandex World. I highly recommend this fabric. It is heavier weight than your standard Milliskin Nylon Lycra used for swimwear. It would make great Yoga pants, bike shorts and other workout gear. It is easy to work with since it is not super slick but it has a lot of stretch. I used a great stretch stitch on my regular machine, did a second row about 1/8" away and trimmed it very clost to eliminate as much bulk as possible. Hopefully the seams don't blow out to quickly but they will be worn under a wetsuit at least in case they do I will know to do them differently next time around. My serger just eats up knits and until I can figure out what the problem is I am using this method.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: The only alteration was that I had to cut off 2.5" of the bottom of the legs to have them the length shown in the photo. My husband is 5'9" so these would be the prefect length for someone who is 6' or so. Other than that they ran true to size and fit perfectly.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will be making these again I'm sure. DH is going to try them out tomorrow if the surf is any good so I told him to let me know how well they work out. Not sure if many of your men are looking for this sort of thing but if they are I highly recommend this.
Conclusion: My DH is super happy with these. Yesterday when I asked him if he would model them for a review his answer was "I don't think so!!". Well he gave in today since I had my camera along with me for the final try on....as long as I didn't include his face he let me take a picture. By the way he is going to be 60 in October..I'd say he is in pretty good shape as well as being a good sport!!!

great job! i could see my DH wanting some of these if they could be modified for bike shorts, or maybe even for the lap pool! thanks for the suggestions on fabric, too.
