| Pattern Description:
Misses' flared pull-on skirts have wide fold-down band that sits on hip. View C skirt has flounce overlay on front.
DUAL INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED: SERGER (OVERLOCK) AND STANDARD SEWING MACHINES.
I made View C
Pattern Sizing:
Based on my hip measurement, I started working on size L, but it ended up with size S. I think this is because of stretch amount of my fabric. The pattern calls 30% fabric stretch, but mine is almost 70% stretch.
This skirt does not use erratic. Instead, the folded over wide-waist band holds the skirt. You may want to make sure the band is tight enough around waist.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Even though the illustration shows tucking the top garment under the big folded waist band , I actualy do not wear like that. (My photo is just to show how it looks). But still it is very confortable around waist.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes. Easy to understand.
What I did not in the instruction:
Only change I made was hem construction.
The instruction calls folded hem. I made test hem, using fusible interface strips and folding over, but I could not get good results. So, I decided to use 3 thread serger rolled hem. I used A LOT of water soluble clear stabilizer for machine embroidery to sandwich the fabric. Used wooly-nylon for lower looper
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
No dislike. Very simple construction.
Fabric Used:
Lightweight slinky from the local independent store (Gale K fabric in Atlanta). This is my 1st slinky project. I read several articles as to how to sew slinky before starting the project. Sewing slinky was not as difficult as what I thought. Use a walking foot & baste before taking the fabric to serger.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
No pattern change.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. If you like this style, go for it. It is easy to make. I am thinking of
stretch velour in black for view A or B.
Conclusion:
Construction is very easy. Great for sewing, knit, slinky or serger beginners.

Pattern with more than 5 reviews! << Previous Review Next Review >> | Reader Comments | | Olivia Sews | 8/9/09 | Very cute skirt! Yours looks better than the ones on the pattern envelope. | | * * * | | Michele Lommasson | 8/9/09 | What a cute skirt yours is! I love it. Thanks very much for the information; I'm pretty sure that it will help when I make the skirt myself. The fact that you made it from 70% instead of the lesser stretch, encourages me to try some of the fabric I have waiting in my stash.
