Pattern Description:
Shirred sundress and shirred top sewing pattern.
Pattern Sizing:
Size S (4-6) to to X- Large (16-18)
I made size S.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, except mine doesn't have a ruffle.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't use the instructions, but as far I can see they are very good.
The pattern also includes complete instructions how to shirr fabric with an elastic thread.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The only complaint I have about this pattern is, that the bodice part is really short. Next time I would add about 2 inches on the waistline.
Fabric Used:
Cotton fabric from the 1970's.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
The pattern tells you to make casings at the top of the bodice and at the waistline and thread elastic bands trough them.
I don't like making casings and I don't like the look of them, therefore I left this part completely out.
But I think casings aren't really necessary on this dress, because the shirring is done with an elastic thread and the dress holds up very well without the additional elastic band on the top and on the waistline.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I think I will not sew one again this year, because I already started sewing for fall. But I will probably make one next year again.
Conclusion:
A nice and easy sundress with variations.
You can read a little bit more about it and see a picture of me wearing my first shirred sundress on my blog, if you like.
