It may have been aggravating to sew, but the result looks great! I love the way the chiffon softens the menswear fabric, and I hope that you'll be able to wear it!

The vest looks very nice ! How did your quick fitting muslin look? 1/4-inch seam length differential is very slight. When I "walked" my Free pattern, all my seams matched. After making a quick muslin, I decided to make the ruffle fuller (i.e. longer), and in that case I think the fuller (and therefore "thicker") gathered edge will hold fine with elastic thread loops. I am looking forward to making the actual vest. I also suspect that the ruffle edge finish suggested, and the larger armholes might have been an attempt to attain a slightly "casually distressed" look that is so popular now, rather than a strict couture look. But I'm just guessing. I still think your vest looks nice !

I've been thinking about making this pattern, so thanks for the warning!

Your vest looks good, but I'm glad for the warning. Thanks for the review.

So frustrating when you don't like the results of a project. Maybe you could add the ruffle to a more fitted vest pattern? Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for the heads-up. I have printed this pattern, but not made it up.
