| Pattern Description:
Pattern Sizing: XS-XL. I made a medium, although my measurements were technically just outside the medium range (by the measurements I should have made a large). But clearly the sizes run a little large, because a medium is just right.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern: I really liked the fit - it is a comfortable, nicely fitting pair of pants that manages to balance the contemporary with the conservative. Perfect for work.
A couple of things to note - the length is a little short if you are either tall or like to wear higher heels - I got to the end of the project and was about to hem when I realized this! They were just long enough make the inseam about 31" (I usually like it to be closer to 32"). I believe the description actually mentions the inseam length is 31", but I didn't digest the information in time to do something on the front end. Next time I will cut them a couple of inches longer.
Also, the fly opens to the opposite side (the right) from all my RTW pants (which open to the left). This actually doesn't bother me at all, but I do find it a little strange. It would be easy enough to change if it bothered you.
Fabric Used: Loro Piana wool woven from Gorgeous Fabrics
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I actually bothered to make a muslin and it fit right out of the envelope, which was a nice change of pace from the last couple of patterns I have tried. One alteration I did make: I added a lining to the knee. It seems to me that the trend with pants these days is to go without a lining, and I like how there is less bulk without a lining, but I used a very light fabric (color and weight) this time around and didn't want anything to show through. Ultimately, I think it was a good idea (and it doesn't add any noticable bulk). I plan to repeat the pattern in a darker fabric and probably will not line them.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Definitely! it is a great pattern. I will try to upload a picture soon, but of course I've gone and worn them (being ever desperate for work clothes) and now they are a little wrinkled for a photo.
Conclusion: Great fit, and perfect style for work. Makes me think I never need to buy RTW pants for work again! Could easily become my TNT pants pattern.
