| Pattern Description:
Sleeveless or Long-sleeved Nursing Gown in 2 lengths; Nursing access through slits beneath a center pleat
Pattern Sizing:
XS-S-M-L-XL
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, but bigger all over. Because I plan only to lounge and sleep in it, this didn't bother me.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very much so.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Though this pattern is for knits, it is completely doable-- with good results-- without using a serger. I liked that the pattern had tips for sewing this garment either with an overlock machine or with a standard machine.
Fabric Used:
Medium-weight cotton jersey
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
The pattern worked just fine for me as-is, but if I made it with the sleeves I would take in the shoulder seam about an inch.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I am already looking for more fabric in my stash to make more gowns-- I would love to have one for every day of the week!
Conclusion:
I've read that some of the other reviewers were unhappy with the nursing openings-- I just wanted to say that, yes, because they are long slits, it is not the most glamorous garment and probably not something you'd want to wear if you were expecting company. For me personally, I chose this pattern because I wanted something I could specifically nurse in while lying down in bed, and this was the perfect solution. I think maybe the fact that I will be using the gown in bed is another reason why the length/position of the slits does not bother me-- when lying down and nursing on my side, they seem to be positioned very well.
