Before starting this project, I noticed a mistake on the instructions. Most intermediate to advanced sewers won't have a problem here, but it would cause pain for beginners: the Headings on the drawings for lengthening and shortening are switched.
I made the swimsuit only.
Pattern Description: Swimsuit has shelf-bra lining, opening in back with hook closure and high-cut or regular cut legs. Wrap with ties has outer edge finished with narrow hem.
Pattern Sizing: Misses' XS - XL.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the center back closure--seems it will help the suit stay on better than just regular straps.
Fabric Used: I used a nylon/lycra swimsuit fabric purchased from Sew Sassy.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I used XS for the Bust area and Med for the waist and hips. Which I was spreading more evenly in my middle age... I also 1" to the center back length and 3" total to crotch length.
The instructions called for zigzag or 3-thread overlock, but my serger also has a stretch wrap stitch which I used. I finished all edges with a 3-step zigzag.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will sew it again (already did, but 4-way stretch does not work well without major changes to fit), but would only recommend to someone who has some experience sewing knits.
Conclusion: This is the first swimsuit I've sewn from a pattern in a long time. The measuring/altering instructions definitely helped make this a success. I plan to try it again in the 4-way after adjusting for the additional stretch.
