I need to make an old fashioned -over the top- hat for a costume. I like your low budget idea. I've used double glue sided pellon board, but I like the idea of wire reinforcement. Costumers Manifesto is good, if the links dont break. =)

Inspiring! and I haven't even looked closely at the pic or linked photos yet... I am particularly nodding over the notion of sewing it all from what you have on hand. That is a concept I am fond of... I enjoy that type of challenge. Real creativity come out when there is a challenge. Now, on to the hat photos! PS I did once find real Buckram at JoAnns.. so I bought a couple of yards. Have not used it nor have I ever made hats outside of fleece toppers.. but I will be ready at 3 am if need be. (Just wanted to let others know JoAnn's sometimes holds a pleasant surprise.
