| Two years ago, my daughter was "Dorothy the Dinosaur" for Halloween. Here is the RTW costume I bought for her. She LOVED this costume and wore it constantly until she grew out of it. This year, she wanted to dress like Dorothy the Dinosaur again, so I had to recreate the costume for her. This pattern provided the basis for the costume, but I used Kwik Sew 3099 for the dinosaur details.
Pattern Description: Children's Costumes: bunny, puppy, cat and pumpkin.
Pattern Sizing: Children's sizes XXS - L. I made size S for my almost 6 year old based on her height. It fits well with room to grow.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes and no. The basic structure looks the same, but I made a number of alterations that changed the look.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very! I had a little trouble with the zipper, but that was my fault not the pattern's.
Fabric Used: Anti-pill fleece from Joann's.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made a number of changes to make the costume more like the RTW costume I was copying, and to turn it into a dinosaur. Instead of velcro in the back, I added a zipper to the center front. As mentioned above, I used pattern Kwik Sew 3099 for the dinosaur details. I used the tail and spikes in the largest size. I stuffed the tail so it would "stand out". Instead of the spikes being a single layer of fabric, I added seam allowances, sewed two layers and turned them right-side out. I wanted to be sure the spikes stood up nicely. I also added yellow spots!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would sew this again if my daughter wants another costume from this pattern. I highly recommend it!
Conclusion: My daughter loves her new costume!
