| Pattern Description:
Above mid-knee length dresses have inverted pleats, inseam pockets and side zipper opening. Pattern Sizing:
6-20 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, though I omitted the pockets and zipper, and ingnored the strap pattern. This dress became my Betty Rubble costume. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Such a simple dress, that I didn't even look at the instructions. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It was very simply and sewed up in no time (like 2 hours or so). I loved the box pleats, but the dress was huge and tent-like. I cut the largest size based on my bust measurement, which was in fact an inch larger than the size chart and had to take in the top of the dress almost 4 inches. Fabric Used:
stash blue, who knows what with some stretch Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The zipper was totally unnecessary and I skipped the pockets as this was for a costume. I used leftover scraps for the straps, so didn't bother with the pattern. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
No, I won't sew it again. Perhaps a very tall, very thin girl would look cute in this, but on me it was horrible. Conclusion:
If you're new to sewing, this would be a nice simple dress to start with. It worked as a Halloween costume and whipped up in 2 hours or so.
Here's my blog post with more pics and the rest of the Rubble family.

Pattern with more than 5 reviews! << Previous Review Next Review >> | Reader Comments | | NC Carol | 11/2/09 | Thanks for the heads up on the fit for this pattern. I had a similar experience last summer with Simplicity 3742 which was supposed to be "loose-fitting" but sewed up as HUGE. Any way, thanks, Betty! | | * * * | |
