Pattern Description: Jalie 2806-Scoopneck tops—Description from the website-“Stylish banded scoopneck tops with optional hem band. With ruching or gathered foldover at center front.” I made the gathered foldover version, a second time. 2nd version
Pattern Sizing: I used size Y for shoulders and upper chest tapering to AA for bust to bottom. Having made this before and made additional adjustments after making the first one, these were the right sizes for me. I actually ended up taking ½ inch side seams instead of the ¼ inch seams.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, I thought so.
Were the instructions easy to follow?I find their instructions to be very good. I printed the instructions from the website making it easier to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the pattern style and was drawn to it when it was released. I really did not find anything that I would consider a dislike about the pattern.
Fabric Used:Rayon knit from Fabric.com purchased perhaps two years ago. Was very easy to cut and sew. I prewashed it before using.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: The alterations I made after making this previously was to take a horizontal tuck in the upper chest and upper back area, to decrease the length from shoulder to under arm. Previous adjustments made were a small FBA, eliminating the resulting side dart; forward shoulder adjustment, and swayback adjustment. With the previous version, I thought the upper sleeve area may be tight and increased the width of the sleeve. In the end that was not necessary so I redrafted the sleeve for this one, reducing the added width; the sleeve fit much better with this version.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I will sew it again and try a different sleeve as well as make a sleeveless version, like this one in Talbot’s catalog. Talbots' version I also want to try the other neckline style as well.
Conclusion A nice fitting, easy to sew knit top that I highly recommend.
