Sharp looking outfit! Suits you very well, i like the subtle contrast of the bands too, better than if it had been b/w or similar

I'm so glad you reviewed this! I've had my eye on it too, and a length of wool doubleknit with it in mind, and the new Vogues finally go on sale here tomorrow! Yea! The dress is super - and your commando view (no turtleneck) would look great with a big shawly scarf.

It shows just how important styling is to make a look. Same dress without turtleneck and shoulder pads = no good. With = cool and current.

Wow, fabulous dress. LOVE the black and brown!! I've been drawn to this pattern, too. Kind of reminds me of the styles I sewed in the 80's but doesn't SCREAM 80's. I hear you on the directions, too, as far as the facings go. That seems to be the standard pattern instruction way of doing things but your way is so much better. I have done that, too. Way too bulky their way!! Great dress.

I love your dress! While the pattern envelope's colors are really a bit too much 80s for me, your version in black/brown is really great. And I love how the shoulder pads save the dress. Something I need to remember!

Very stylish! I love the brown and black. (I might be weird, but I think if the sleeve were made narrower, the no-shoulder-pad might be a different, but also-good look. In other words, I didn't find it despicable at all).

I made this dress, too. Your review is spot on. I like the way you finished the inside. I recommend your instructions over the pattern instructions! It looks great on you. PS I totally concur about the shoulder pads.
