Now you tell me ... remind me to tell you about the issues I'm having with a patterned underskirt ... The hackjobbie will be the lining and I'll use the "tube" method for the top part!! 3x waist measurement gives good results?

@dfr: As long as you're not sewing something THICK (like velvet), it's hard to go too wide on the skirt. I'm happy with 3x waist (which I think was a reddawn recommendation) on the girls I'm sewing for, but I suspect that one might want more than that if one's hip to waist ratio were rather larger than the nearly 1:1 ratio these girls have. For myself (26in waist, 37in hip), I like a minimum of about 2 yards of fabric around, and often I'll do 90inches, if I'm sewing 45in fabric, since I hate throwing anything out.
