Is this the pattern from the Kwik Sew Learn to Sew book? I think some of those patterns are from the 80's and haven't been updated. They have the wide dropped shoulder that used to go with big shoulder pads. I don't have this book, but when I looked through it at the store I decided the newer patterns would look better on me. There are some t-shirt type pajamas in KS sleepwear section, so maybe one of those would work. Also, Stretch and Sew has some straight t-shirts. Their knits often have less shaping than Kwik Sew or Burda.

Deepika, couldn't you just straighten the side seams on a pattern you like? Or make it a size bigger?

cherry, the patterns I have are for close fitting t-shirts. If I straighten the sides seams and use a bigger size I am afraid I am messing with the fit. I also want a pattern which has a ribbing neckline option.

Deepika, try Burda 8998 for a simple t-shirt , I use mine as a pj top! The only problem I had was that my cat ate half of the neckline pattern, and I cut it to large so it does not look right, to lazy to pick it out and not to many people see me in my pj's! So it will do. Hope this helps.

Dolores, burda pattern looks good. I think I am going to get that one. One question: how is the neckline finished?

I have the book Kwik-Sew method for Easy Sewig. It has Master patterns included. I hope this is not the book because I was planning to use this in my beginner sewing class that I teach.

Debra, that is the book! However I did make a straight pull on skirt from it and it came out ok. So don't give up on the book. It's just that this t-shirt style is not what I was looking for.

Hi, Deepika! I have the Kwik-Sew method for Easy Sewing book, too. I haven't made anything out of it for a long time, but I'm wondering if maybe you quit a step too soon on the neckline. The neckline SA is supposed to be encased in the neckband; did you do the step on page 32 (turn the band down on the RS and topstitch)? My problem with the neckband was that it stretched out too much when I sewed it; I made a note to 'stabilize' it with clear elastic next time, but I haven't done the 'next time' yet. I think Mini is right -- the huge armhole/sleeve is to accomodate the linebacker shoulder pads we all wore 15 years ago!

Lisa, I think you are right. I did not do that step!!! I will go back home and check page 32 but I think I understand what you are saying. However I think if I want the 'ribbing' effect instead of sewing the neckband to the WS, if I just sew it on the RS and then turn the SA inside and topstitch, I will get the results I want.

Deepika, KS 3062 has the same neckline finish- backwards to me. While the end result is the seam allowance enclosed in the self binding, I much prefer to do it the other way. I agree- too "homemade " looking. The next one I made, I just did it the way I wanted, binding to neckline right sides together, turn and slipstich to inside sa. Much nicer.

Thank You Deepika for all your reviews. I see that you sew a lot of Burda patterns. They are my favorite...although I haven't had much time for sewing lately. Your reviews are very informative. Keep Sewing!!

Hi, I am just entering the pattern review zone. I have read several reviews and they are so-o-o helpful. I too had the Master pattern book and found the patterns to be somewhat dated. although I have had postitive comments on the one blouse that I made. I however donated the book. KWI SEW is supposed to be updating the method for easy sewing sometime before 2003. Just from the pattern reviews I am impressed with KWIK SEEW (Which I have tried in the past) . I switched to New LOOK which I love and with a few fitting alterations I am impressed. I am also now trying Burda. Had the Burda WOF magazine and was exhausted tracing. Could not figure oout the sizes bevcause the european oin world of fashion do no correspone to the pattern measurements of the Burda catalog in store. So if I generally buy an american size 12 then Burda is a size 38? But WOF size 38 is a size 14. But I hear that WOF is the better version of Burda patterns. ?DO you find that true in your experience with BURDA patterns? To sum if up. I love the VOGUE pattern pictures, but they do not fit me as well as they did 15 years and 25 pounds ago. But never to mind as New Looks and KWIK sew generosities , I think I have hit on something exciting. What about Click and sew computer patterns by Wild ginger software? And Dress shop computer generated patterns and EX-fit? Any comments on these. Thanks .
