FYI: I have a number of Patty Young's patterns in the lineup (hard to complete with a toddler)... but I often look at her updates: and she's developed a Kyoto in misses sizes! Your version is SO cute. Glad this pattern is already in my stash.

I have this pattern too and love it. I've made it twice for my daughter. I don't remember reading in the instructions how to do the skirt without the strips. I just added up the total width of the strips, then subtracted the seam allowances to get the number of inches I needed for a single fabric skirt. I also love your fabric choices. Sadly, my local fabric store doesn't seem to carry Amy Butler anymore.
