What a wonderful challenge. I'm enjoying seeing the progress you are making.

You're making great progress on this dress and your most recent version looks great. I was reading your blog update asking for suggestions on the front drape... I have never attempted this type of drape in a garment (just cowl-neck tops) but I think I would try all three front pieces cut on-grain and the dress back cut on the bias. For the drape in the two pieces on the left side of your body (print and lighter color), it looks as though both the concave seam and convex seam could be cut out in an exaggerated seam relative to the body- as though the part where that seam is most towards center front could be pulled out in front of you at least 6 inches or so. I'm picturing that giving the extra dimension for the drape. So, those two flat pattern pieces would look too wide when laying flat on the floor/table, but the side seam would still be fitted to the body. Does that make sense?

$598.00! I can see why you want to knock it off, Peg. Do you have a sense of whether this dress is a woven or a knit? There is something about the heavyness of the curve that suggests a knit to me...
