The shoes go well with the dress. I noticed them before I read about them. The dress looks graet on your DS GF. In Threads sizing was explained in this way: sizing such as 14 originally referred to the age of the wearer; hence the big differential between ready-to-wear sizes and pattern sizes.

you did fabulous!!! making sense out of the pattern pieces, matching the fabric plus buttons to the style was a success...and the bound buttonholes was a real bonus for her, you can't find details like these in RTW
