Groovy shirt! I've been using old 70s and early 80s shirt patterns as well. They have stylish collars and slimmer lines. As for the too short sleeve slits thats an easy fix. I always use a bias strip of extra length (just cut the excess off after stitching) for this part and ignore the pattern's thrifty piece. I love the old KWIK SEW shirt patterns.
