|Pattern Description: Feminine style pea coat.|
Pattern Sizing: 34cm- 46cm. I sewed a 36cm with 1/2" seam allowance
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?Well this was my first coat and as such there were a lot of techniques that I have never done. Ottobre's directions are all there but I found it difficult to understand at times. I probably spent at least 1 hour if not more trying to interpret what they were saying.....keep in mind I'm not an advance sewer but wanted to dive into it head on!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the style of this pattern. Which is also what I hated to sew. I found the collar very difficult to sew but this is probably related to my inexperience and not the actual pattern.
Fabric Used: 100% Melton wool (lightly felted) from fabric.com for the shell and stash fabric, white satin for the lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made a lot of mistakes that you just can't see and as such was unable to do the lining the way they meant for it to be done
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes but probably not anytime in the near future as I mostly I don't have time. This pattern is very time consuming and I will soon have 3 kids under 4 under my care. The only reason for me being able to do this now was because I went into preterm labour and as such my kids are with my brother and his girlfriend, otherwise it would have taken me a very long time to finish this.
Conclusion: I really do love this coat despite it not being perfect. All that is left is to attach the buttons and buttonholes to it - but that will have to wait until the baby is born.
