Hmm, should have taken a close up before mailing. The chin guard is a D shaped piece sewn to the front edge of the collar, straight edges even, centered on the fold of the collar. Half of the guard is under the zipper on the collar and half on the collar facing. After the collar is sewn the guard turns out and covers the top of the zipper. Making it a part of the zipper guard is a bit more streamlined, but more fiddley for finishing the collar. Beware of thickness at the top of the collar. Too many layers of fleece can happen very easily.

This jacket lookds very comfortable. I like the cheetah binding. It adds pizzazz.
